Candidate serves as Work Based Learning Specialist whose main goal is to identify Work Experience opportunities and to place qualified youth into these Work Experience sites.
DUTIES:
Networks with community organizations, municipal and county entities and local employers to secure Work Experience placement opportunities within the county for youth clients.
Maintains strong and positive presence in the community in order to promote employment of youth in Work Experience programs.
Maintains current knowledge on occupational, educational, and economic information to assist individuals in deriving vocational and educational objectives.
Maintains knowledge of other community agencies and programs and training offered.
Maintains successful working relationship with local Economic/Workforce Development Agencies.
Maintains database of local work experience placements.
Prepare required Work Experience documentation.
Manage participants through the duration of the work experience.
Coordinate with worksite to track participant time charging and progress.
Enter appropriate services and case notes in the customer tracking database.
Conducts work based learning work experience orientations that prepare youth for work placement.
Works with JAG Specialists, Career Pathway Facilitators and WIOA Youth Staff, to identify Work Experience opportunities, and to perform other support duties as needed.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and agency rules and regulations.
Ensures agency and individual performance standards are met and/or exceeded.
Performs other duties as assigned.
I.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Associate Degree in Education, Marketing, Business, or related field and/or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Baccalaureate Degree preferred.
Prior sales, marketing and / or recruitment experience also preferred.
Ability to meet all hiring requirements, including passage of a drug test.
Knowledge of skills and aptitude tests, ability to interpret and analyze test results.
Knowledge of and ability to provide training to clientele on resume preparation, proper interviewing skills/conduct, and networking skills.
Working knowledge of standard office procedures, and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated processes, tasks, and operations.
Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and ability to conduct public presentations and prepare detailed written reports as required.
Ability to properly operate standard office equipment, including computer, printer, calculator, shredder, and telephone.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other JobWorks departments, various community organizations, social service agencies, educational institutions, various employers, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information and records according to state requirements.
Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.
Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons.
Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and work with others in a team environment.
Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure.
Ability to understand, memorize, retain, and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to compare or observe similarities and differences between data, people, or things.
Ability to compile, analyze and evaluate data, make determinations, and present findings in oral or written form.
Ability to file, post, mail materials, and maintain accurate and organized records.
Ability to occasionally work extended hours, weekends, and travels out of town, but typically not overnight.
Possession of valid driver's license and demonstrated safe driving record.
II.
DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
Candidate performs a broad array of duties that are not directly related to one another.
Analysis and independent judgment is needed in selecting the appropriate guidelines, instructions or rules to apply to specific tasks.
III.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Candidate uses standard departmental practices, policies, and procedures to apply to specific situations and tasks.
Unusual situations or problems with irate clients are discussed with supervisor.
Frequently, decisions are made which are restricted only by organization-wide policies.
Work product is subject to supervisory review upon completion and is assessed according to attainment of desired results, soundness of judgment, and general conformity with departmental standards and policies.
IV.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
Candidate maintains frequent contact with co-workers, other County departments, other community organizations, social service agencies, educational institutions, various employers, and the public, for purposes of exchanging/information and rendering service and instruction.
Candidate reports directly to Regional Program Manager.
V.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Candidate performs duties in a standard office environment, involving lifting/carrying objects weighing less than 25 pounds, keyboarding, close and far vision, color perception, handling/grasping objects, fingering objects, hearing sounds/communication, and speaking clearly.
Candidate occasionally works extended hours, weekends, and travels out of town, but not typically overnight.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
